Day 30+31+32+33+34+35+36

Still in Mongolia, still struggling to get to Ulanbataar.

One car breaks down, we fix it, second car breaks down, we tow it … for 350km. Good times!
Cars keeps getting stuck, breaking down, loosing parts, making noise. But we will not give up!
We reach the finish line. We did it. We’re fucking awesome.

BOOM!

This was the most epic adventure I have ever done, and probably ever will do, something I’ll remember for the rest of my life … not a day goes by without me thinking about it.

Let me know if you have any questions about the rally if you’re planing to do it. I’m here to help!

PEACE! :D

Day 7+8+9

Day 7, 8 and 9.

Enjoy the third installment of Team Venture – Mongol Rally 2013. We’ve begun to look a bit ragged as we get the hang of sleeping rough and driving day in and day out.

Driving the last few clicks to the russian border, and then making our way to the all mighty Kazakhstan!
Meeting two new teams along the way that we would see a lot of the next few weeks. Team Saxolia, and Team BONNE+JAN.

Music: Coldcut – Sound Mirrors (Grasscut Dub)

We lost our fifth leg. No pun intended.

We lost our fifth leg. No pun intended.

Bad news everybody.

Team member Ted decided to jump ship. We’re very sad that he decided to do this, but as you all know, you can’t really force anyone to do shit like this if they don’t want to do it.

We’re not sure just why he jumped ship, but we think it has something to do with him being a sissy. Or something like that. One can only guess. And that is our guess.

The rest of us are still going tho, 4 man strong team now, and we’re getting PUMPED!

Last night we did the (almost) final work on the cars (still have those plates underneath to fit too), and also packed the cars with all the gear we’re bringing. Everything could fit, and we even got some space left over for … for … well, lets be honest, it will be filled with beer.

Later this week, we’ll do the under-the-car-plates, and then it’s time for the waiting game.

Only 12 days (and 22 hours) left!

Team Venture Beta Camping

So, last weekend, me and Jonas took the two cars out for a spin, to try them out for longer distances, and then we ended it all with a camping out in the wilderness. We mad a little movie, enjoy!

Thanks to friluftsvaror.se for all the gear they sponsored us with!

Some pictures?

First try funding party.

First try funding party.

Thanks to everyone who showed up last night for our Reklamöl/fundraiser/Chillax. It was a great success (Mintuu Chili?!), and together we managed to raise 1413.50 SEK! Awesome!

No one brought any pens or drawing paper, which I found a bit odd, since that’s the industry we’re in.

Oh well, it was still awesome!
We had both cars parked outside, fully pimped out with logos and stickers and roof racks. Looked pretty pimp.

Damn, less than a month left now, and all of a sudden it feels like there’s SO MUCH LEFT TO DO!! … which there isn’t.

A little gallery-thingie with pictures will be up later.

Peace!

Status Update.

Well.. not much happening at the moment. Christian & Jompe is hopefully working hard on figuring out what car to get and how and when. We emailed a bunch of cars salesmen people last week, and no one has yet replied. No one. In this day and age, you at least reply to an email, even if you’re not interested, right? Or am I the only one that replies to emails?

The sponsor PDF is almost done. We’re just running thru the spelling and grammar in it, since lets face it, I’m not the best guy when it comes to grammar and spelling :)

Also met with two awesome people from Uzbekistan last saturday, turned out that a friend worked with an Uzbek™, so I couldn’t pass on the opportunity to pick his brain about the country and … well … drink a beer or two of course. I got a lot o information, and some clarifications on certain things I didn’t really understand. All in all, a good night, and I hope to hook up with Timu more. They promised to help me with the Russian too when I’m a bit further down the road learning it. Awesome! :)

First big meeting.

So, the first big team meeting is coming up.

We’ve gotten our (as for now, secret) 6th member for the rally, and it will be fun to see his childlike face skype’d in at the meet-up.

At the meeting we will be discussing a lot of things. Delegating everything that has to be done for our Mongol Rally participation next year will be a big part, and of course putting up deadlines for most things. Not only when they should be done, but also when they should be started…. oh yeah, and drink some beers.

We are currently working on both press material and sponsorship proposals, and are hoping to have them ready for meeting so that we can start planing up the way to contact potential sponsors the best way.

One suggestion is to start with used cars dealers for a first run of donations, with the hopes of a full car sponsorship from one of them. It is a bit naïve, yes, but one can hope! If that fails, we will continue on to the other potential sponsors in our neck f the woods, companies as well as friends and colleagues.

The proposed team uniform will be presented, and voted on. You’ll see it as soon as it has been decided on how the final look will be, but try and imagine A life Aquatic meets Saturday Night Fever meets The Blue Oyster Club from the Police Academy films.. yeah, smoking hot!

We’ll get back to you with more info on what went down at the meeting later.
